Default one piece oil gasket

getting ready to put my oil pan back on. I am using the felpro one piece gasket with the four plastic clips to hold it in place.

does this gasket need any sort of liquid sealer anywhere or should it be installed dry?
thanks

My son installed one of these on his chevy, we had to drop the pan and and go back with sealer.

It leakedbad around the ends of the panwithout sealer, sealed up as dry as a bone with sealer.

I say use sealer....

I just installed a 1 piece and used sealer in the four corners of the half circles. The instructions that came with mine say to only use it there. I've run the engine for about 10 min since putting it on and it doesn't look to be leaking.

thats the thing, the only instructions that came with the gasket were for the plastic snap ups used to hold the gasket in place during install.

i didnt even get those plastic clips and i think i bought the felpro one. Mine had some pretty decent instructions for being a gasket. Even gave the torque pattern.

How soon do you plan on taking it back off? This is the question I asked myself...then went with sealer. It's cheap insurance.

you shouldnt need sealant with a felpro gasket unless the oil pan is beat up on the edges. if its a good smooth surface and everything is clean, i wouldnt bother

yeah thats funny stuff,
the guy at the counter had no idea what he was looking for.
i specifically asked for the 1 piece gasket and it took him three tries. he kept bringing out the wrong thing.

i got a cardboard box with a gasket and 4 clips inside.

ok then what sealant will work on silicone. i read that normal black rtv wont stick to silicone.
