all i can tell you is make sure you really like the color that you end up choosingbecause you will be looking at it everyday, you wont want to spend some money on a color that you dont really like. then you will be saying why didnt i paint it this color or that color dont really like the way it looks. i say if you like red or gray dont rule them out just because "you don't wont to copy your friend" i think it would be a compliment to them if you say i painted mine this color cuz i like the way yours look, then again seeing theirs you can get an idea of how yours is going to look and you get to see if you'll like it. my .02. i think a medium gray would look nice.

ok well i DO NOT want to do the bodywork. i bought a primed fender from my friend but it fits horribly. thats why i want to pay a shop to prep prime and paint my car. i will do anything else but the bodywork. im a mechanical guy and will do anything other than bodywork. i have zero experience with it and from what ive tried doing its a bitch. my neighbor just got her 90's explorer painted cause someone threw acid/stripper all over it. it looks awesome and i highly doubt they spent more than 2k for it.

so anyway my car would be trailered to the shop cause i want it painted before i drop the motor in. i will strip the car of trim and chrome and the whole car is a shell right now. its all metal right now. no interior or wiring. just suspension and sheetmetal. so no taping off the interior. all theyd need to do is strip prep prime and paint.

i also do not trust my bodywork. sanding, filling, and smoothing type of stuff. at the same time i do not trust a bodyshop to repair rust. i'd rather replace a patch panel or 2 and have someone else apply the putty.

ive already replaced all my rust. ive done the hard part. i just want it looking nice now.

i just found out that my neighbors explorer got painted at maaco.

im srsly thinking of getting it painted there. i was looking at their website and they have 4 different paint options. of course im going with the best one. its a 2 stage. and i will make sure i let them know exactly what i expect. i will make them paint all door jambs and underhood and trunk etc etc. and all glass will be removed.

burnt orange. Actually dark green would be a pretty nice color on that car.

i guess it mostly depends on your interior colour. if that';s red, then obviously you don't want a clown car with bright green paint job.
what's your interior colour?
