My 65 Mustang I just adjusted the advancement on the engine and it sounds great! However, Stupid me, I took the keys out as usual, but as it was night, my instrument pannel and inside lights are on, and the Head light switch was turned off.
I thought only when the key is in accessory, or the car is turned on; your instrument pannel would light. Not when there is not a key in the car.

Any ideas?

If i am thinking correctly, you can rotate the headlight **** to dim the lights and if you twist it while the headlights are off it can still switch on... but maybe not...

should be able to twist it to turn on interior lights but instrument lights should not come on with.

That is definetly that the instrument lights come on.
Try to jiggle the handle or give a sharp whack. That should solve the problem.
