A good CD box with a good coil is nice, you can open up the plug gap a fair bit and the car will generally run a lot better and get better mileage.

I was looking into just how to correctly do the gap on the points and that was enough for me to drop it and just buy the Pertronix setup. I got the II with the Flamethrower II coil. Engine went from having a dead cylinder to running smooth with just that swap. Oh and starter cable and new battery terminals.

Screw Pertronix...since you have a 6, go to O'Reillys, get a Duraspark II setup. The whole setup will cost you like $80, which is half of the price of a Pertronix.

If you go to a junkyard, you could get the Duraspark II for much less (just know, you're taking a risk with it being out of a junkyard)
