Default Header Clearance Issue?

Ok guys here’s what I'm looking at. I have a 67 Fastback with a 5.0 from a 91 Mustang. My exhaust is a nice clean setup minus the glaring weakness of the stock manifolds. I am looking fora set of headers to complete it all, but my question is if I buy themfor a 91 am I going to have clearance issues when I go to install them in a different engine bay. It would be safe to assume that I will have different issues than the normal install.

Has anyone tried this with a similar setup, or has anyone who hasworked on a 5.0 swapped the headers and noted the difference in clearance? I was planning on using a set of shorty headers form Ford Racing that I liked, but I don't want to buy them only to find that they don't fit in my engine bay. So, any thoughts?

Default RE: Header Clearance Issue?

I believe the bolt pattern for a 5.0 and a early 289/302 are the same. I would contact thorley headers, or headers by doug and they probably already have a set made for this type engine swap. The key is clearing the bell housing, and powersteering, steering box and subframe. If you go to some low-buck header shop there's gonna be no promise they'll fit, especially because of the swap, and in some cases, you may get stuck with a set of crappyheaders and a lousy return policy. Go to a good shop that knows what they're doing and these two are some of the best on the market.
