Ok, so it was just me then. I can take it, guess I was just a little moody. Must be getting old and not happy that my horse is down. Sorry to bash anyone...this is a good place to get some answers to things that can't be found elsewhere.

I'll shut up now.

I wasnt trying to make you feel bad...I was just standing up for the little people. I understand about not having your car running. Mine has been off and on for 8 years now, and is currently disassembled.

I guess I was venting a little, too. I've just seen a lot of posts here and on other sites that I felt would discourage someone from asking a question that might be considered too basic to even bother someone about, when in actuality there are many others that have the same question....I fit into that category.

Instead of being the young guy, who has an excuseto not know some of this stuff, I'm the old guy who should already know it and sometimes I haven't felt like I could or should ask the question.

However, I was impressed with the way you guys (Forum Members) handled the question a couple of weeks ago from the guy that didn't know where to put the oil during an oil change.... [sm=smiley20.gif] I have to admit that even I rolled my eyes a little at first, but I'm sure that guy came away from that thinking he could come here with anything from now one....and he should be able to. So, I'll get off my soap box and stop venting and you guys can get on with real restoration issues and I'll go back to my usual lurking.....and learning.

Yeah the oil change post was a perfect example of how we are. People could've come off and been a complete ***, but instead the right answers were given. Some even stood up for the question. It proves that no one will ever know everything about cars. There is too much and its always changing.

Why does it seem that most of these post are by kids that just want to go faster and don't have a clue as to how to get there? If you want to know why something don't work as intended or want help fixing something, it is best to give a description of the exact problems you are having, ( when I do this, it does that) not I want to go faster so, I must need a biger fuel pump.....sorry. This is driving me nuts though...am I alone?
You do have point though about description. A post subject should be more than "Question." And yes, there are posts which ask specific advice without specifying the year, engine, or whatever. Also, using the Search function can reveal a huge amount of info about what the user wants to know...for example how many times has a post about "What does it take to convert a six to an eight" appeared. Personally, I have found about half my questions answered by Search instead of posting. As far as basic questions..."there is no such thing as a stupid question...only stupid answers."

This happened like, I dunno, a year or so ago. A guy I know went and bought a new car (some GM something). He said he was looking around in the engine bay and was amazed at all the doo-hickeys and doo-dads cars have these days. He was looking around and did not see the oil dipstick. He looked harder, puzzled, and couldn't find it. Called up his friend (who made fun of him at first) and they both looked at it, and could not find the engine dipstick ever. They ended up calling the dealership and the guy was like "how in the world do I check my oil? Where is my dipstick?" The dealership guy told him that the car didn't have one - the computer on board would alert him when it was low, and tell him how much to put in the car.

" I must need a biger fuel pump" im pretty damn sure that is a stab at me. who do you think you are? This is a forum that is designed to help people that have questions. If you dont wanna help, get out. People like you suck! I am sorry that i had a question, i am only 18 years old and wasnt born with all the knowledge about cars that apparently you were born with. I once again am so very sorry for asking a question. People like you give forums a bad name and make us young kids not even wanna ask questions that may sound stupid to you, but to us it is useful information. Whatever.
