Kids
Whoa...whoa...whoa!!! We had everything cool and calm, Stepman apologized and admitted that he was venting. There is no reason to get upset about it. It might just be best if this thread was closed out.
oh, i didnt see that he apologized. im sorry. but still, it is a forum for questions to be asked and answered. I really dont think that the question about me needing a new fuel pump was stupid in anyway.

I'm glad the young ones are working on a classic Mustang and not rice burners..

I suppose it's the nature of the beast. Younger kids in many cases simply haven't learned how to ask questions. By that I don't mean they can't ask a question, but I mean they don't know how to pose the question in such a way as to describe the actual problem with enough of the right info to let people that have knowledge formulate an answer. Some people just aren't that good at communicating, or communicating in a written medium. And many young kids for varrying reasons don't want to appear entirely ignorant, so they try to include information that they think is right to gain credibility. It's human nature really, and those of us who have been there whether we admit it or not, know we were once the same way.
Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. Instead of getting mad and insulting or irritated with them, we should shrug it off, accepting we were like that once, and rather than giving them a fish with some humble pie, we should teach them to fish so they won't be so ignorant.

I only read the first few responses, but I say what are we young people suppose to ask? We may not have been around cars as long as some of you older people, so of course our questions are not always going to be the "right" ones or detailed enough. And As far as the going fast part, I like to go fast, and I am sure most everybody on here enjoys driving fast every now and then. So yes we ask stupid questions sometimes, and it may irritate you sometimes, but how else will we learn? How will, we, the younger people, teach the younger people of tomorrow if we never figured it out ourselves?

as a 22 year old student, the mustang is my only car...when i depend on that to get me to work and everywhere else, yes, it can be a little nerve wraking when you are trying to fix somthing and dont know what you are doing. if it breaks, your kinda screwed...so questions save time and money.
Personally I have been turned off by some of the recent attitude in the forums and in all honesty, I have been hesitant to post lately simply because some people have brought some negativity to the forum that I didn't used to see here.
That said, I understand that some of the guys here hold a wealth of information in their heads about these cars and are more than willing to share their opinions, experience, and expertise with those of us who are amateurs. I know I am not alone in saying that I REALLY appreciate these fellas and the time they spend on this site.
At 29, it's a stretch to call myself a kid anymore but when it comes to these cars, I am sure there are 18 year olds who know a lot more about them than me. Some might say I have no business owning a classic car when every little project is a challenge. But it is what it is, I love the classics and have always been a bystander. Now I own one and since I have to start somewhere, here I am.
It seems like the best way for the forum to work is this:
The newbies & rookies (& kids!) ask the simple questions.
The intermediates answer them.
The intermediates ask more in depth questions.
The advanced guys answer them.
And finally, the advanced guys need and deserve to be commended and appreciated for sticking around the forum and insuring that the information is continuing to trickle down to all of us.
Thanks, guys.

Ok, once again, I'm sorry for starting this one. Also sorry for offending anyone. I was just in a mood and ended up ranting in the wrong place. It is clear that I failed to think this one thru before reacting. I think it was more the way things are asked, not what is asked. I don't want to keep people from asking questions. Normally, I like to help when I can. I won't do that again. Sorry to Matt too if you took that personal, I don't know where it came from, it just hit me wrong at the time.
