i get my van back and the mech told me about a 289 he got that i can take. what u think should i dropp it in my 67 6cyl

If you look at it from a cost/benefiet standpoint, then probably not. If he's giving you the motor for free and you can drop it in with the rest of the drivetrain without modification, and you choose not to convert to a V8 driveline and suspension, then mabe it will be OK, but all you'll have is a faster car (IMO always a good thing)

There's a whole lot more to it than just taking out the 6 and dropping in the 8. Do a search on here. We've talked about this many times.

Yeah, this discussion is starting to get old. But, that's OK. For all of you who don't know, there is a research button on top that you can utilize to get answers about this query. But, we will try to answer your questions if given enough information. Heck, I also have questions that need answers from members of this forum.
