If you look at it from a cost/benefiet standpoint, then probably not. If he's giving you the motor for free and you can drop it in with the rest of the drivetrain without modification, and you choose not to convert to a V8 driveline and suspension, then mabe it will be OK, but all you'll have is a faster car (IMO always a good thing)
The basic consensus is, no - don't do it. It's just not worth the time and effort. Buy a V8 car to start with if you want a V8. Plain and simple.
Yeah, this discussion is starting to get old. But, that's OK. For all of you who don't know, there is a research button on top that you can utilize to get answers about this query.
