I found the appraiser not the seller. The seller was asking just short of $40K and I have initially agreed to $36. Again, I am a bit hesitant given that a few things don't work on the car but they are minor enough that they are being fixed. Again, I was a bit leary that there were any problems at all but the appraiser said that the car was in great shape and gave it a 2+ rating. What do you all think its worth?

1946 1/2Mustang Covertible; triple black; 4 speed; 289/210hp v8; rally pac; Mustang factory ac; 15K miles after the refurbishment of course. Interior and exterior in great shape (other than what I mentioned in my first message); engine (per the inspector) looks and sounds great.

Sorry - I probably should have been more clear. The inspector wasn't sure what it was filled with as its covered with paint but he said it may be some type of polymer based filling.

36 is even too high. do you have pics? cause from what it sounds like, it seems like its a $25-28k car.

Why not buy something like this one for $20k?

The price sounds a lot high at almost $40k.

Way too high! If you can see areas it was fixed, it is not perfect. And for that money it better be perfect. I would keep looking.

I will say again for 36K everything should have worked. What was done when he restored it. Inner Rockers, floors cowl work??? Hate to see you spend that kind of money only to have to redo it in a year. Any pictures before he restored it? I would keep looking if it were me sounds to high. What is the VIN number? Original Drivetrain?

I disagree with the guys who think this is too high. A good to very good 64.5 is a rare thing and is worth some money. If the rust was repaired correctly, I think that is fare price. A show quality 64.5 is going to be way more than $35k and a concourse 64.5 is going to be even more. 64.5s are worth MUCH more than the same car in a 65 or 66 because it was the orginal first year. I would just say this, do a Marti report before purchase to insure the authenticity because much of your cost is associated with it being an orginal 64.5 car. If it is not an orginal, it is immediately worth less.

I have to dissagree with you on this one Urban Cowboy. Yes, the 64.5 has a little more value, but not much more than a 65/66, plus a $36K car should have no filler in rust areas, it should have had metal replaced.

Also, Marti does not do reports for anything prior to 67. No records. They were destroyed by Ford years ago.
