Default bodywork ques

Ill be getting my barnyard find in a few days(Find them and save them before they are gone) i dont have an air compessor anymore so i was thinking of getting a Random orbitor sander to plug up. should i start with 80 grit and then move up to 120 when i start to sand down the paint?

I like to start with 36 or 40 grit then go to 80 then 180. You have to be aware and not sit in one spot to long or you may heat up and warp the metal( this goes for any grit) also stay of the body lines with the 36 and 80 so you dont cut them down.

I forgot to tell you to only use the 36 till you see the primer than go the 80 till it is metal.

i dont really use 36 grit when stripping unless its very heavy, id go with 80 or use chemical stripper.

i used chemical stripper to strip my 66 coupe.

it had 8 yes 8 layers of paint. all different colors.

and under all that paint?! a thin layer of bondo covering the ENTIRE CAR.

talk about molesting body work.

Orbital sanders can screw up a bondo area. They tend to take the bondo out of the edges and leave the patch so it can be felt. If you hit any bondo work be careful.
