Primer on Primer
Well when I got my car the hood and front fenders were already primered.
My question, you not supposed to mix primers with paint from another company or whatever, right? Im going to paint with House of Kolors, and was wondering if a should reprime or lay a HoK sealer or something?

I know HoK has info sheets on their products that you can get from their website. I would follow their directions for use. I used their epoxy primer and then used their sealer. You can prime over another type or different brand of primer, just make sure the prep work is clean and scuffed right for properadhesion. I would use their sealer over the mystery primer to ensure the topcoat is happy. You usually have, after using the sealer, a few hours, upto 24hrs,to topcoat or else your stuck scuffing again.
I would scuff the primer with some scotch brite pads, nothing too abrasive, just scuff it to give something for the sealer to adhere to. Don't have to do anything to the sealer if the topcoat is applied within the recommendedtimeframe.
Summary:scuff the primer, cleanwith pre-paint solution to clean all dust off. Ihave used an alcohol/water mix which works good. Apply sealer.Wait for recommended time.(all on the pdf files from HoK website for each productyou are using). Apply topcoat-paint, base or single stage paint. If using base, then clear.
You have to know what you are doing if your using base/clear as it requires more skill to lay right. The single stage is just a paint that dries with a "clear coat" looking finish. You don't typically apply clear over primer or a sealer, I guess you could if that is what you want.
You can touch up anything. Now would be the time.

just hope the primer is not laquer or it will cause it to soften and lift when you apply an modern 2k filler primer. honestly if you dont know if it was prepped right id strip it
