wet sanding
ORIGINAL: Tony R
I've been using Mirka.
I've been using Mirka.
It has held up fairly well. I havent noticed the sand coming off the paper like in some of the cheaper brands that I used on my truck. I also like the fact that it comes is sticky rolls so I dont wear out my fingers trying to hold the paper to the blocks.
i prefer wet sanding on my personal cars. but in a shop its hardly used anymore 99.9% is done dry. i like doing it wet mainly because its easier for me to feel imperfection under my fingertips and you dont get all dusty. i just throw on a pair of sandals and shorts and go to town
In reply to rmodel65 I have the opposite problem as you I tend to miss more imperfections when wet sanding than dry. I just dont feel the panel as well when it is wet. I do like that the wet washes all the dust away as you sand. One of the guys I work with has to do it wet to get the better job. Yet we both come out with the same quality in the end. I worked with the one guy for awhile and he had to use a rag in order to feel it properly. This is only meant as an observation on different styles.
ok, well i am in south ga[8D] j/p, seriously i prefer to do it so i dont stay wet all day. another way i se to look for imperfections is wipe the panel down with wax and grease remover and look at it from an angle
