Gas Price$
In Europe the cost of diesel and gas are shutting down parts of the economy:
"MADRID (AFP) - Two lorry drivers were killed on picket lines in Spain and Portugal on Tuesday as strikes by thousands of truckers over soaring fuel prices turned deadly.
Spanish police escorted petrol supply tankers into Barcelona on the second day of the stoppage that has caused food and fuel shortages and huge tailbacks on the Spanish-French border."
It's a lot worse there than here in America. Obviously something has got to give but I doubt that $20/barrel oil is ever coming back. The Europeans seem to believe that their governments can do something about the prices.

its $4.50 out here on the west...
the guy who projected that the price ofoil per barrel would hit $100, which it certainly has, is now saying that by september, it could very well be at $200 a barrel, meaning $8 a gallon!!![:@]
.
so get your joy riddin in now!

Today I saw a Buggatti Veyron roamin the streets on my way out to get some gas. Just reminded me, but I'm pretty sure the Veyron gets something like 7 MPG!!. What jacka$$ would pay that much just to spend twice as much in gas! I paid $4.45/gal today. CHEAPEST I COULD FIND! [:@][:@][:@][:@] I can only imagine how much he has to pay to fill 'er up.
yep 4.50 in So Cal for regular, my diesel costs me 5.45 a gallon. I dont know why maybe because I have a plumbing company with vans that avg 8 mpg, I'm not even phased by it, it costs what it costs. All these people complain about the oil companies ripping us off but the truth is their profit margin has barely changed in 40 years, the futures market and commodities determine our price. Not supply and demand as much as you think, our demand has gone down and the price has gone up. Our weak dollar is a big factor too as the price in europe hasnt increased like ours.
Its a manipulation of the market by the traders. I have a vac home south of the border and regular is about 2.50, premium is 2.90 and diesel is 2.10 a gallon.
My most fuel efficient vehicle is my 3/4 ton diesel pickup and my 408 stroker 67 vert if I drive it normally. The price of SUV's and trucks have dropped like crazy and people are making the mistake of taking a 5k-10k loss on trading in thier gas pigs, to save a few hundreds in gas.......not me. I cant ride a bike with a wrench and fix plumbing.....
Our liberal government is to blame and I am conservative but I blame Bush as well, that dumb ***..... we should be drilling off shore, in Alaska, converting coal to oil but the idiot environmentalists would rather ride thier bikes and drive thier electric cars to thier govt jobs where everything is free and be more concerned about saving a species of flea that lives on a polar bear. The amount of corn to fill a tank of an SUV of ethanol will feed a family of four for a year, I have never seen an ethanol station in my life.......
Yea lets put our whole economy and lives in the hands of people who hate us and want us "infedels" wiped off the planet, "the liberal way"..............Richard Nixon way back when called for energy exploration to make us independant, if we did it when it was called for we wouldnt be in this mess!
All I can say is let your voices be heared! If things go the way they are and if Obama wins the election be prepared for 8.00 a gallon soon and a massive depression.
PROVE ME WRONG!

wouldnt matter if you drilled on mars...oil is a finite resource. why dont you blame the big auto manufacturers that killed off their hybrid programs in the late 90's. commericalising that r&d would by now be starting to ease demandfor fueloil in most developed countries.
its not just the US that has been hitting the snooze button but US foreign policy has often been too short sighted and too inwardly focussed. Dont get me wrong...so has ours andmostother western countries. its just that our economy is not big enough to make one zit of difference. yours is.
you cant escape the fact that China and India's thirst for resources is driving up all prices. It wouldnt matter which pres you get next. The chinese are "modernising" industry to run on oil generated power instead of bypassing that (old technology) and using nuclear or other alternative technologies for power. This will get worse and I aint gunna argue with the likelihood of depression

What? The automakers aren't to blame. If all of the commuters in America had Honda Fits like I do, then ourgasoline consumption would godown 40%.When Ibought my Fit in August 2007, NO ONE was buying them.
Back aroudn 15 years agoor so, GM came out with a new line of aluminum straight 6 double overhead cam 24 valve engines for their trucks and SUVs.Beautiful fuel efficient motors that looked liked Mercedes engines. Well, no one bought them and people chosethe V8options instead.
Evenlast yearhere incar crazy California, the market for fuel efficient cars was very small.WhereI live virtually everyone commutes at least 50 miles one way to work and most people don't drive carslike myFit. Andmost cars have just ONE person in them. BTW,you can put 4 adults in my Fit and they'll be comfortable and it's faster than any 1966 Mustang was except the 271 HiPo.
Car makers make cars that will sell. Americans like big and inefficient just look at the recent new homes built all over the country.
Gas won't get to $8/galif youbelieve that, then why didn't the price shoot up years ago?
HopefullyAmericans will learnsomething from this. The economy is already suffering.
