Gas Price$
I know you guys out West won't be crying for us but gas just hit $4.05 a gallon here in Baltimore.
So I look across the street from my office today and there at the Texaco is a Roush 427R. I figured it was someone stopping at the station. A few hours later it is still there. So now I am thinking I can't afford to cruise in my I6 anymore because some Texaco Station Owner is ripping me off enough to buy a 427R. If I was him I wouldn't leave it at the station.

i filled my dd with 13 gallons of premium yesterday. $89.
thats not even a full tank. to fill the mustang from empty would cost me $104.50.
I'm starting to get a little nervous about where this will end[:-]

It's not the station ripping you off. I understand your frustration though. It sucks all the way around.

The stations themselves make more on quick-e-mart items than they do on gas. It's the oil companies and investors that make all the money.
Gas is like $4.55 for 87 on the central coast, and my car drinks 89=/ Good thing I walk to work...
I drove down to San Diego yesterday in my 4 cylinder 2.4l Nissan Frontier truck to pick up my new racing roll bar from Autopower. It was about a 350 mile round trip. I filled up coming back and put 10.6 gallons at $4.389/gal or $46.37 total. I went 307 miles on that 10.6 gal or 29 mpg. Of course I was driving 65 mph down Interstate 15 and was getting blown off the road with everyone going 70-80 mph in full size trucks and SUVs.
I commute 140 miles roundtrip everyday to work but I drive a Honda Fit and I get between 40-43 mpg. I just filled up this morning and put in 8.4 gallons at $4.499/gal ($37.61). I went 353 miles on that 8.4 gallons.
I'm still trying to decide what engine to put into my '68. It has its original 289 with about 130,000 miles. I'm leaning onputting in a 351W Ford crate truck engine and putting a 3.00 True-Trac 8" rear end in since I'm going to keep the C4.
Gas is going to go down in price since this currently is not sustainable, but it's not going to be a whole lot cheaper over the long haul. Americans just have been using gasoline like it is waterout here in So California where everyone drives a lot, a huge portion of the population went out and bought gas hogs even when they had alternatives.
I want to be able to drive my '68 up Highway 1 and not go broke getting 13 mpg. My brother's 1998 Z-28 with a 300hp LS1 Chevy with a 6 speed cancruise all day at 70 getting almost 30 mpg. And nothing I do to my Mustang will make it faster than his Z or handle as well or be as comfortable.
But I want an old Mustang, not a new Z28. If I could get a real 240 net HP I would be satisfied since that's what a late 90's Mustang Cobra had if I'm not mistaken. I know that the 351w Ford crate engine won't do that with a carbyou can't beat this new technology.
Face it, using gasoline like it was going out of style is out of style.

unless the gas station is price gouging by charging like $5/gallon, they don't make hardly anything from gas sales. my mom is the manager at a sheetz and their gas is at 3.99. they store is paying 3.94/gallon for the gas.
I keep hearing the station owners arn't the ones making money. But to see that car at the station does make you wonder.
I run a local lumber yard and last year we supplied a mansion for a guy who owns several stations. He said he had several acres and wanted to build each one of his kids a little mansion on the property.
Someone somewhere is making a killing every time we get "raped" at the pump.
By the way as Gas Sations go Sheetz are awsome. We came across them while skiing near Hagerstown Md one year. We ended up getting our dinner there three nights in a row. (For those who don't know Sheetz, they make an awesome sub, salad, or hot carry out. We didn't eat
Ho Ho 's and bagels for three days).
