Default T5 Swap

I have found a T5 on craigslist that I am looking at buying. Only problem is I don't know if it will fit on my I6. It says it comes with the V8 bellhousing and pedals. I know I can get someone to make the tranny crossmember, but what about it hooking up to the I6.

If its a v8 t5 then the input and output shafts are probably not compatible with your I6....Im pretty sure.

whats the tag number?

I don't know. I do know they sell a conversion kit for the 65-66 I6, but not for 67 I6. For $150 it doesn't hurt to try.

Actually, I believe the V8 T5's work just fine with an I6. Still have to figure out if you want to use the stock bellhousing and a spacer plateor the T5 bellhousing, but I think it'll work.

I thought I remember the v8 t5s having a larger input shaft with a different spline count....

It will work no problem, but the only way to use the T5 bell is if the I6 is a later one, I think it was 75 when ford got smart and used the same bolt pattern for the 250s 300s and 302s If your I6 is an older one you will need to an adaptor. I know a gal who put one in here 66 and can send her your email if you want she can give you all the details. won't matter if it is a 2.3 or a 5.0 T5 the only difference is diamiter of the input shaft and that can be fixed by using a different pilot bearing. what is the tag # on the T5 not the case # the tag #
