so im told i need a new carb for my 1968 289 mustang, any suggestions on a good part? i was told to just have my carb rebuilt but is that a good idea?

just a stock carb, but my car is all original, 90,000 original miles, so im wondering if its best to keep it that way

what makes that carb better than a stock one?, im not a real car part specialist at the moment haha

I have a 289 as.
that carb according to all the cfm calculators is way too big for a stock 289.

carb calcs at 80% efficiency says 390cfm is good.

holleys calculator says for a 289 that a 390 or a 570 is best.
of course this topic gets argured here a lot so thats all i am saying

NASCAR tuned 390. Mileage will be great and it'll run better than you could ever imagine. Good luck finding one for under $1,000 though.

And yeah, you can rebuild a carb. Autolite 4100's are good carbs.

im not looking to get anything that high tech, i just want to get my engine running top notch with some quality parts, i doubt ill need a nascar tuned carb to do that
