Carb
Generally auto parts store will carry "Hygrade" kits. I believe they are made by Standard and they are good quality. The git is basically new gaskets and accelerater pump. Instructions are included. Very simple carb to rebuild if you can take your time and follow instructions. Setting up and adjusting the carb after rebuilt will prob. take a mechanic with more skills and tools than it sounds like you may have. But that is also a fairly straight forward process if you take your time and read the instructions carefully.
For a stock motor this is all the carb you will ever need. Don't waste money on replacing it. Switching to a 4 bbl will require a new intake manifold as well. And, even thought the kits fit many models, get the numbers off your so the parts guy can ensure you get the right one. There will be a tag on top of the carb and also some number arounf the base. Write them down and bring them with you. A kit will cost about $25.

Good write up on rebuilding a 2100 and will let you know what's involved. Good luck

so i took my carb off, but idk where to find the part number for it so the auto place knows exactly what i have, there is only a sticker which i dont think means anything. should i just take the entire carb in?
also there is gas leaking from it, is it okay to let the gas drain?

it's a motorcraft 2150, just as suggested by crunchyskippy.
I run a 2100 at the moment and they're quite good for a stock engine.
if it's leaking take it off the car and block the fuel lines, as otherwise you might create a fire hazzard.
Sure take the carb to the shop if you want, so they know what you need of them

wanted to do it myself but my dad wants to tell me i wont know how to do it. just went to my mechanic and hes gunna rebuild it for me for $150 including parts. next time im doin it myself, save on labor
they're about the same. and if I state I prefer this and that one, we'll have war here a few minutes later.
The most important for you t0o kow is that when you think about buying a 4barrell carb somewhen in the future, you'll need a 4 barrell intake like the "edelbrock perfromer 2121", or the "weiand action plus 8124".
Or simply stay with 2barrel, then you'll only need a new gasket for the carb. But with the motorcraft 2150 you'll be fine. They're good carbs alright, good on gas/mileage
