Snell,
The reason I mentioned it is because once you install the deck lid (and now door) weatherstrip, the deck lid (and now doors)probably won't fit as well.
It's a PITA bodywork thing. It may work out fine, but chances are good that once the weatherstrip is installed on the doors and deck lid, the panels won't close completely/align very well. The hinges will have to be loosened and the deck lid and doors re-aligned. From experience, it's always best to simulate the weatherstriping being installed by loosely attaching it during initial panel alignment.
R model clone huh? Sounds interesting....

Nice looking car/paint/bodywork. If the lines are "off", I couldn't see where.
Is that a "true" wimbledon white? It almost looks too "light", but it's hard to tell from photos. I've painted 2 cars wimbledon white and they always had more of a "creamy" or "antique" color to them. I met up with a '66 wimbledon white/gaurdsman blue FB yesterday and his re-paint was the same way. Another friend of mine has an original 67 GT350 with the same paint scheme yet he has the original paint and it looks whiter, but still "creamy". I've always felt that the local paint shops were screwing up my mix as it was just too "creamy". When it came time to paint my '66 last January, I skipped the wimbledon white this time and went with an "ultra" white.
Regardless, your car looks great!.... and the motor ain't too shabby either!

Yeah the colors are correct, matter of fact I dont like the look of the white in my garage, it is creamy or what I thik Yellowish, in the sun it looks better. The blue is correct GMan blue too. Has the beautiful specks in the paint too, always liked that. I used to have an original S Model back in the day, bought it for a steal and sold it for well... Im 38 and house is almost paid off... I did good. I been buying these things for years, LLLLLooooong before Gone in 60 secs, made them popular. My problem is I have no time to restore them, the next is a 66 Nightmist Blue A Code, (Non GT), REALLY Looking forward to that car, it will be a beautiful car when all is said and done...
I looked at some of your other toys and you are doing great man. WIsh I lived near ya, Id have ya work on my cars. Only thing I can do is put back together and engine work. Body and paint is like Japanese to me... and of course, the most expensive...
