I have a v8 and got a t5 from a v8 and everything fit great.

I did need to shorten the shaft 1" though. that cost 80...how much for those slip yokes that clams to not need DS shortening. arent they about 80 too?

That is a common misunderstanding. There is not a slip yoke that allows you to not need to shorten the drive shaft. Either your drive shaft is already the correct length or it needs to be shortened, depends on the car and application. The misunderstanding comes form needing to shorten the slip yoke. IF you are using a C4, toploader, or three-speed youke you will probably need to shorten the yoke so that the drain hole in the T5 is not covered. I used a C4 yoke in my T5 and had to take about 1.25" off of it, basickly I cut off the section of the tip that had no splines. Sense some people need to shorten there slip yokes and there are replacement yokes that don't need to be shortened, people confuse it with the drive shaft. To add to this confushion some drive shafts work and some need to be shortened. You need at least .75" between the end of the trans and the shoulder of the yoke, and no more than 1.5". If your car is not set up that way you need to have the drive shaft modified.
