scrap the i6 turbo, the 302s and teh 350 chevys do what is the smart thing that will shut everyone up.

drop a 4.6 2v. dime a dozen and reliablility second to no classic motor. haaha jk, that would cost a heck of alot more to swap than a classic pushrod.

but you can find 4.6s in wrecked f 150s, crown vics, and e 150 vans. of course they would be non PI and you would have to modify the transmission tunnel and shifter hole. and the driveshaft ould have to be modified and the motor mounts gotta be fabricated.

but then again when is price ever an issue?!

that was absolutely no help.

dont count on turboing the I6 i dont believe that engine, modified as you want, will respond well. your going to find that your 6cyl unlike lexus is 300 6 cyls and 330s dont rev like them and hence will limit boost potential. plus the amount of fabrication work you would have to pay for would be much more than a more common 302 swap.

oh my, i didn't have time to read through all the pages of this..but i think most people are completely against it. (from what i read on page 1) that being said.

40 bucks for the block is cheap but you have to consider the cost it will be for all the fab work to get it to fit
you will need modified motor mounts
new tranny
modified driveshaft
etc.
etc.

but if you want to do it go for it! i will get flamed for this..but i think that would be kinda cool (350 is a good engine IMHO)
it would be funny to see if you could convince anyone it was a 351w or something haha.

I am back to my I6. I can't find a V8 cheap enough. What would a hydrolic cam or aadjustable rocker arm do?

oh yeah, some adj rocker arms wont do much, if you get some roller ones, maybe youll gain some, not noticeable, but less friction-more HP

You should listen to Mr Dave Sanborn. On both how to straighten out your friend with your hood and the advise on the car. When I was 15 I bought my 67 for $500 and had little to no money but scrapped, traded and borrowed to get it on the road. I would get so mad when it would give me trouble but my dad always said that I built it out of used parts and on a low budget so spend a few bucks on the right parts to make it safe and reliable. I guantee a classic with a 6 and nice wheels & tires will get as many or more HS girls as a classic with V8 and bald mismatched whitewalls. My point is just set a budget of what you have to spend, not dream of spending, then decide what gives you the best bang for the buck! If gas keeps going up, I'll sell ya a 429!

stay with the 6, (for a while at least),save up for an 8"rear end with some 4.10 gears...

This is the place where you will want to start modifying.... not at the front of the car

BA. keep the I6 but dont spend money modifying it. IMO. just keep saving until you find a good deal. youve only been looking for a little while. just keep tight, less movie nights and chick fil a outings(they raised their prices) and just keep your eyes open.

dont become discouraged cause you cant find a V8 around recently. just keep the I6. and wait for a good deal. yoru car works now. there is no rush. screw the HS kids. after high school you wont see 90% of those jacka** again trust me.

besides honestly i haev a 66 coupe I6 and a 67 mustang 289 with a three speed. and as of right now the V8 is stock and its not like the 67 is pulling wheelies off the ground. its not that much faster than the 66.

if i had my choice id get a 67 with a 6cyl and drive that everyday and save the v8 for the weekends.
