shelby
so lately a lot of people have been upset with carol shelby, with all his lawsuits and trademark stuff, even i was kind of dissapointed with him
but in the issue of mustang monthly i just got they did an interview with him and asked him about some issues such as him terminating SAAC's licensing agreement and the lawsuits against him over Unique Performance
his answers to all the questions made sense and i now understand why he is concerned with his trademarks, if you get a chance, read the article
it definetly gives shelby's side of the story

Never thought too much ofthemmyself. Maybe if they used the words S......A........*......C... it would apply better. Anyway, I hate all the lawsuites and stuff, but has.... ..... worked a day since S**C was formed?Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............Don't think so. Years ago I attendeda SAAC convention twice, my first and last. As far as the other, who would want to be a part of that? Maybe ole "Shel" has the same thoughts about them as I do.
It is HIS "name" andhe owns it. Or at least he should.
The article is mainly about him trying to protect his legacy for the future when he is gone. He is trying hard to get this finished before he passes on.

From what I have read and the documentariesI watched, he is a bit of a stingy old fart.
Apparently his charity was having issues cause he would not releaseany of themoney, nice guy huh?
I believe his foundation was donating less than 1% of it's resources each year. The law requires a minimum
of 5% per year.
As I understand it, he did not see the value in the Shelby brand, and let others manage it. Then when it all
starts to come good he wants it back............... reads like a spoiled kid IMHO. I don't particularly like
SAAC and have nothing to do with them, the way I see it is they are as bad as each other. Maybe they
both deserve the mess they have made between them.

Every thing I've ever read or heard of his REAL behavior not his P.R. spin his a major DicK.
Seems he is very skilled @ stealing other peoples designs and calling them his.
Standing on the backs of FORD's engineers for years and taking credit for their hard work.
He didnt design the body or the engines in anything that has had his name on it to date!
What realy has he done other than a very good racing career? I do give credit to beating Enzos Azz! lol
Yes we have some cool cars with his name on them but not the hero they made him to be over the years IMHO
Jack Roush has done more for our sport and a great stand up guy to boot.
For that matter so has Steve Saleene.
The Shelby Cobra was great Idea that sooner or later someone else would have done over time.
Ive seen home built MG's with a good stout 302 kick the **** out of cobras and vettes btw.
But the guys that built those couldn't patten the design like he stole. MG didnt go under @ the time like Bristol did.
I wish Jay Leno would step into the light more and put something together with updated combos.

I have to give Shelby credit. He was (and is)a licensed manufactuer by the way. When Ford wanted a "Race" Mustang to take it to the others, they gave the call to Shelby, and he wooped them. When they wanted to spank "Enzo's" rump, theyturned toShelby, and he did in good form, a1,2,3 finish. Given all the engineers at their beckening, why did theychoose a "Chicken Farmer" turned racer to do the job?So I give credit where credit is due. Saleene and Roush are, and will, always be second stringers compared to Shelby. And by the way, he WAS very much involved with the design of the GT40, GT350R's and the "Trans Am" cars, even to the point of sneaking in an engine (one of his) in the 68 season, insted of using the "gonna pop" tunnell port that Ford TOLD him he had to use (how many races did they actually finish in 68?), I believe they won that race. Not to mention the fact that in his time he did'nt have the benefit of a computer, like the other two (however he was one of the first to make use of a wind tunnel). All grapes go sour in time, and some turn into wine. He is of the finest Vintage to haveever been fermented. The grumpy old man is 85 (I think) and seems to still be going strong. All you have to do is mention the word "Shelby" in the car world, and anyone, with a lick of sense knows what you are talking about, unless they are still growing pubic hair, and sniffing"RICE" dust up their noses.
I like Shelby. Anyone can be spun as an @sshole in the media. Then again, this isn't a political forum, its a technical forum. So lets get over this BS and get back to why we are here: sweet @ss cars that you can't buy new anymore!!
