Glass
FYI: Some windscreen tips you didn't ask for, lol.
1.The vehicle code in many states prohibits 'buffing' out a crack larger than a quarter.
2. I've had 2 star cracks from rocks that flew off a gravel truck for 15 years. The cracks are nickel and quarter size, and have never grown, as some people have predicted. They are hidden by the wipers, so I don't care.
3. Windscreens are $150 or so, sometimes with installation included. Tired of looking at the pits and/or wiper blade scratches? Get new glass.
4. If you MUST have matching numbers glass because you have a numbers matching car, you can get Carlite to make one that will match your orig windscreen and is undetectable from the orig. No one will know it is OEM. Cost is about $600. If so, you probably aren't driving this car.
5. Orig Carlite windscreens did not have a tinted visor. All replacement windscreens (in CA anyway) are required to by law.
6. If you decide to change the windscreen, order and receive a NEW gasket first. If you don't replace the old one, there is a VERY high chance it will leak with the new glass in a couple of weeks after everything settles in.
7. Never run your wipers dry.

Shawnb23,
Wow, you're totally right, $300. My bad. Still, not a lot of money when your glass gets really pitted and scratched after time.
Curious what the black specs actually were. Did the body also have the specs or just the glass?

I've done the eastwood polishing kit and it cleans the haze and stuff off but all the scratches and pits are still there. I thought I could polish all the glass but ended up replacing some after polishing because I could see the scratches better! It does make it look good and clean, like new if your glass is good to start with.
