Default RE: wing removal

I am thinking about doing the wing window removal with the single pane of glass.
AFAIK, there is no easy "swap" for this procedure. If there is, I'd love to hear/read it.

There are very few examples of the vent window elimination around.Only one example comes to mind and that was done on the high-end custom"can't remember the damn name" car. I believe it may have been aRiddler car. The company that did the conversion was contacted for a price qoute on theconversion and IIRC the answer wasover$5k.

Let me know how it works out for you.

EDIT.... okay, here's the car. It's the "Nightmare" car out of Custom Classics and I was mistaken. The custom elimination of the vent windows was qouted at $5500, not $5k.

I have seen Nightmare a few time on the website but never noticed the windows before. It looks like that car sold for a little under $200k. I guess if you can get that much out of a car you can afford to put $5500 into the windows?

I have only heard ofthis projectone other time and the kit forced you to use Plexiglass for side windows. They did that because the glass would have a curve to it. I don't remember where I saw it. It was a couple years ago. I assume you have already tried a google search?

The bee issue aside, I'd keep the vent wings. I think they are great, especially if you don't have A/C, much better than the cowl vents.

But if you have the money and desire, go for it.

Couldn't you pick up a junk vent window off ebay, remove the handle, then use that as an exact template for a glass shop to make you a set of new windows? Then pop out your current wings and install the new ones however windows are installed?

I wouldn't think it would be TOO expensive, since they are not curved and are relatively small...

I still have the vent windows for my car. I may ask my boss where he is getting his glass from since he chopped the top on his 39 chev. I was thionking I could make a template out of card board and see what I could find at a wrecking yard. I could even spend a little time and make an exact replica of the size and curve out of a piece of sheet metal.
