I highly doubt you will find it cheaper with a forged crank. But go ahead and have it balanced before you get it, that way you wont have to take it to a machine shop and end up paying more for a "not as good" job.

Yeah, it a lot of money, but I paid $1000 for my 347 kit, and the crank is still cast steel. Generally, 351 partscost more than 302 parts, so that price seems reasonable to me. Check into Eagle and Scat. My kit is eagle, simply because they are rated the same as Scat, but $300 less. Just shop around and see what you find.

Not a really good deal. Those parts are not very good and won't hold up long. Need to use better crank and rods. Scat. And building a long stroke like that with small bore will beat the bearings up bad. Rod to stroke ratio is a prob. I have a Dart Block with a 4.125 bore and a 4 inch stroke. Much better way to go.

Here we go again with the rod ration crap again. Ignore this. It is not a problem. The 427 CI LS7 Corvette engines have one of the worst rod ratios of any engine ever built, and they hold up just fine.
