The title VIN needs to match the chassis, not the door. The door tag is easy to remove/replace, the chassis VINs are not.

If your car is stolen, you need to know the chassis VIN. If they find a car and discover it has a door VIN different than the chassis, they're going to ignore it. If your title matches the door, all they have found that you can report as your property is a door.

Go find the proper chassis VINs.

You can get a new data plate for your door made with the correct vin from Mustangs Unlimited. You just have to give them the info.

You'll be much better off going that route than trying to change your vin on your records.
what tool do u use for the rivets?

You drill out the existing rivets and buy a rivet gun (or pop rivet gun) from most any hardware store.

Thanks, the one and only screw up from my body shop was they painted over my original. Im a bit scared to take it off becuase I know the paint will flake or chip under it. Im thinking of drilling through the holes in the rivits and using screws to mount the new plate over the old. Any thoughts on this?

sorry about the high jack!

Hmm, you might could take a razor knife and follow along the sides of the plate, and see if you could get down to the metal. This way when you pull the plate off theres minimal chip/flaking.
