Wooden headliner?
I wood say if it matched ANYTHING in the car, mabey.
Real wood dash, real wood console even steering wheel or shifty ****.
But if it is only the headliner it wood be out of place, no 'theme', as it were.

Today I went to home depot and got two test pieces of the cheapest wood there and picked outred mohogany stain and some clear coat. I sanded the wood and painted it up. It's only one coat of gloss so it will be alot more shinny and glossy when I get more on. Boy was it hot still. Good point on the "theme" I'll definitly get a wood steering wheel and some other things, but that will be after i'm all done with the roof. I'll have to cut down the edges of the wood so they'll fit in the groove and i'll have to connect them all together somehow (Any suggestions) I'm thinking screws, wood glue, brackets. But first i'll go buy more wood and get all that painted. Heres some pictures for yall.

doesnt the roof flex a little bit in cornering? i have a feeling the wood would dry out and crack with all the slamming of doors and stuff. the only wood i like on cars is the frames in model A's and wooden beds in old trucks.
i think its a bad idea [

ok heres my idea since u made up your mind already
make a wood frame with straps on each end to tie all the board together. make a groove in all the boards for the straps to sit in. then screw them in. then make a dome light in the middle brace and paint the brace black.

If you really must do this, it would be best to use very thin (1/4 inch no more than 3/8) slats of hardwood (oak, maple) softwoods suck up to much water. Be sure to leave space between piecesfor expansion. Do not go with tongue and groove. After installation the wood taking on moisture from the air is going to be your biggest problem (I can picture cracked or shattered windows due to this). I still can't imagine this working well, but I wish you the best of luck.
