Default Wooden headliner?

How do think a wooden headliner would look in my mach 1 and how hard do you think it would be. I want a look like this with darker wood and layed down horizontal. I'm not sure what to do about the middle beam, but i'm thinkingI willfill in all the holes with wood filler and paint it black. There is a ledge on the edge that I could tuck the wood under hopefully without many problems.

compound curves are not fun to do in wood all though you make it thin enough it could work.
Custom things like this are about what you like.
Its not my thing with the wood in a stang but it wood be different.
Id try a pice of laminate clamped in place and see how you like it.

yuck. maybe on a woody wagon.... but not on the mach... and it'd cost you 30x as much as a 29.00 headlner from any of the supply places.

BUT its your car. I just don't think it'd fit. Try a mirror instead.

Haha. Yes it wood.

If you try to do this, you are a braver man than me. It honestly seems like an insane project to undertake. But I have never worked with wood much so who am I to say?

Your interior does look like mine right now though. I need a headliner but have not got the time or courage to undertake the project. I sanded off the insulation crap and spray painted the roof black awhile back as a temporary fix and it is not as obvious of an eyesore now. Actually I am used to it and when people ride in my car, they dont notice it unless I point it out. Of course, they are not classic car people either.

But someday, someday I will do the headliner. Good luck with whatever you decide to do and definitely take pics to post up here cause I would love to see the progress and end result. Cheers.

Woody truck or wagon is one thing but a Mustang? Never have been a big fan of the wood scene but to each his own.

Nice ride!

Before I answer, may I ask if you have been drinking? j/k

Its a unique idea and you would need to use bamboo because of the curves, but look at your ride.........go with a normal black headliner, if you want to mess around with some wood, my office needs new wood floors. Leave the poor pony alone.

knotty pine maybe?

A guy here in town redid the inside of his van with peckwood cypress and that turned out super nice. Hard to find that anymore.

(teehee. I have about 1/2 cord worth of 1x6 tongue & groove peckwood waiting for the right project to come along. I'm thinking liqour bar for the man cave)

the curve wouldn't be much and I would need to use thin wood and if it looks bad I can always get a black headliner. I'll take a trip and see how much the wood will cost. I think that will be my deciding factor.
