are there any tricks to getting the headers in when the engine and trans are already in. im fighting it. the nice finish on the headers is losing

 

The hydroulic part of my power steering is hitting the long tube headers.Will that part be eliminated when i remove the power steering and go manual

 

Yes, or you could get the drop bracket for the hydraulic ram and keep the power steering.

 

you can try loosening the motor mounts and jacking the motor up with a block of wood and a floor jack

 

I went in from the bottom, jacked up the front end and wiggled the headers up to the heads that way. It took a little bit of work and some cursing, but it worked.

 

+1 I went in from the bottom as well. I could not find a way to get them in from the top. All the Vaseline in the world won't help with that one.

 

I got them in by jacking up the engine and wiggling from below. So much for that pretty Jet coating! Holy Moly what a pain. i had to remove the hydrolic part of the steering and it is now hanging there. im gonna build a drop bracket for it for now.

THougt i would be getting it fired up tomorrow night but it is slow going.
