oh yea you guys are helping me a lot. I'm know I won't get a 68 FB anytime soon, but I could see it happening before 20. I think from what you guys are saying, I'm going to start with doing a 69' or 70' Mach 1 restoration to stock form, and learn my way aroundthe classic/muscle stang. I think my dad would get interested in restoring it with me, if i pull my oh so clever wording

I'll be in close contact with you, LCC, and also waffle and true66. You guys have been a great help to me.

P.S.

BA, that is the kind of comment that will set me off like what happened earlier. It was just bad timing because I got back from a ****ty day at work and I've already been in enough fights with my parents about getting a classic stang. They've been trying to turn me off saying it's too much work. Mostly my father who has worked on cars his whole life, and had a cutlass and trans AM as a kid. He has turned on restoration and working on cars. I don't think the car business has pleased him. Anyway, I'm all ears because I'm here for help from a group of people that knows the classic mustang. I'm going to ignore that comment [sm=smiley21.gif].

Yeah I know that feeling. I am having a crappy day here. Just had 2 trees fall and hit our house today. It may be too much work just depending on what kind of condition you get the car in. Now I can help you in the I6 area if you end up getting a mustang with a 6. What would be a really good thing is just get a car that already fixed and add parts to your liking. Reason I said I don't want to help is you are the 2nd 15 year old that has done the " I want a fastback and I want it like Eleanor thing." Other kid didn't listen. But it seems you are getting the info you need and looking for mustangs other than the Fastback. I think you would like a 69-70 Sportsroof better than a FB.

i can see where BA comes from. i dont think you understand how many people come on the forum and say i want a67-68 fastback and i want to restore it and im only a teenager but i have time and cane make it happen.

the people that have commented on your post are mostly young, im 18 and im on my fourth mustang, and your first post sounds like a post of somone not very knowledgable in classic cars much less mustangs.

you worked on a jeep which helps with alot of skills, but to turn that mustang you posted into a nice car would take years for a professional to turn around much less than a working teenager with less than supportive parents.

i am 18 ASE cert in body repair, have a 03 jeep wrangler with lots of fabs, and am dirt poor, my grandfather and father were mechanics and my grandfather hates working on cars, because he did it all his life.

i know where your coming from and i understand your dream but i suggest you go do some research.

if you have a jeep keep it and save your money a DD classic will cost big bucks.

also i think you need to re evaluate your parts list. you dont have alot of money to throw at the car, you do not need the highest end parts all at once. a more realistic goal is to make the car into a very nice DD, and slowly add the larger big ticket items.,

most importantly do not alienate your parents. they are going to be your most important allies. im the process of turning a 67 into a reliable DD.

I'm only 16. Bought my coupe not even 3 months after turning 15. I am also dirt poor. had 6K saved and spent 5.5K on car and 250 on the door. Currently have over 1K in it. It is a slow process, but you learn as you go.

They've been trying to turn me off saying it's too much work.
If you can find an already running stang, or even one in decent "not running" condition, it definitly wouldnt be "too much work". These cars are built on simplicity, so fixing or totally replacing things are not too difficult. No computer system and limited electricals= less headache. And you have a mountain of information on this site, you ask it and someone will give u an answer...

I'll probably have 20k wrapped up in this car alone, just to get it running. I win Bullitt...
