Default ballpark hp

it's a 68 289, edelbrock performer intake, 670 holley street avenger, believe to be bored 30 over (you can add this figure or not just let me know), headman headers (not sure of tube size, but most likely 1 3/4"), 2.5" exhaust with flowmaster 40 series.

just curious about a hp rating cause i don't want to make a trip to the dyno, it's not worth my time. i got to thinking the other day that my car runsreally well andi would like to know a ballpark value for my knowledge.

thanks.

180-190 (maybe 200..., but that's a stretch) at the rear wheels if going through a manual transmission. If you're going through an automatic, figure less.

350 at the rear wheels?

The cheapest way to achieve this number would be to:

bolt on a set of Edelbrock RPM heads and rollerize the valvetrain, install a performance camshaft based upon Edelbrocks recommendation, install either an Edelbrock RPM or Weind Stealth intake and then either add a supercharger or +100HP shot of Nitrous.

350 at the rear wheels is not as easy as you're led to believe.

Good Luck,
Dave

Yeah, 350rwhp is VERY difficult to achieve for a n/a street 302. A 347 could do it without too much difficulty though.

yea, i thought so too, but it burns fuel just right and runs crisp. in fact, i had to beef it up some to run right on my car. it would bog and sputter upon acceleration and kickdown.

i'd be perfectly happy with any upgrades in the future even if i don't achieve 350 at the rear wheels because the car runs strong as is. i guess i underestimated the value of horsepower if i truly have 180-190 now.

If the block is in good shape, bore and stroke it. Throw some new heads on there too and you'll be at 350hp.
