Default Tail light - Help Please

Can anyone help me out with my 66 mustang?

Problem: When I hit the brakes the tail lights dont get brighter. Turn signals work and the tail lights light up with the lights are on but when I hit the brake they stay dim!? I bought new bulbs and still does the same thing? Can anyone give me tips on what maybe wrong? I hate wiring problems.

Thanks in advance

It is hooked up near or on the brake pedal shaft. They should have them at a local auto parts store.

My switch looks like this.

you can see the two pins where the cables connect to?
disconnect both cables and connect the two cables with each other temporarily
best thing is to use a small piece of cable and plug it into each of the cables that go there.
When your brakelights work with those 2 connected, then you know for fact that the problem is the switch. Either not adjusted properly if they can be adjusted or just faulty

And if you put the cable accross the brake switch plug terminal sockets, and the lights don't get brighter, replace the turn signal switch.
