Default Autolite 1100 problems

I've got a 200ci six with the original Autolite 1100. The car idles okay, but it bogs down whenever you give it gas. The carb will rev freely in park. I just rebuilt the carb. Any ideas?

Check and see if your accellerating pump overtravel spring is hooked over the roll pin on the throttle shaft.

Sounds like it may be getting too much or not enough gas. What type of choke is it?

Its an auto choke, but its disconnected. The spring is hooked correctly. I've tried tuning the air/fuel mixture by ear, but I'm not very good at it. Are there any methods to tune the carb that I may not know about?

a/f you can measure with rpm or vacuum gauge. if you have neither, per ear should be good enough. adjust it so that it has the highest idle. should be approx 1 and a half turns out.
I suspect you have a vacuum leak.
spray wd-40 or something like that around the carb and intake and power brake (if you have some). Cover the area of inteke manifold.
as you have autmotic check the same on hoses you might have from there to intake
don't spray into the carb though
if the idle changes there that's your problem

at the same time I've seen the same issue happeing on cars that had an overfilled automatic trans
so check on the fluid level of your transmission again

I'm not an auto man, but i believe it is measured cold while car is in park and running in idle
That correct?

My last carb was a auto choke. I don't know how they work though. I only know about electric and hot water chokes.

Measured when warm in park at idle.

I had the same problem, only mine was a stopped up screen on the sending unit in the tank.

try ponycarbuerators.com.
Your better off getting a 2v and adapter. They are too expensive for any carb they have. I don't care if they are tuned out of the box. Only takes about 2 minutes to tune it yourself.
