Ok, obviously you guys don't know me because I've never properly introduced myself. I don't have all this time that you guys do. I'm a Marine, and a grunt at that, so that leaves even less time. In march I'm deploying for my third tour and WILL BE GONE for the whole summer and come back in winter. I KNOW that parts wouldn't line up, but when you go to the parts store and tell them what you need and it takes 3 times to get it right, it's frustrating as hell, not to mention even Summit and Jegs have gotten a few orders wrong, I KNOW what I need and I ORDER EXACTLY what I need, and it comes in as the wrong part, or a store doesn't have the part I need and I have to order it and the only address I have is a military address and I can't have parts shipped to it, it freaking sucks. So there it is, I don't have the luxury of time. I also knew the 351W was different. I got it because it was one available and two I've heard horror stories about the Clevelands from FORD guys.

And I'm 22 and in a car club, my reference was to the idiots that have junk cars and call themselves a "club." So if you want to take offense to it, then sure your gay. And I must say I mean that with the utmost respect. So since I used to own a Z28 Camaro that walked over GT mustangs left and right, does that make ME a "punk?" I love the people that are screw Chevy, Ford all the way. I hate you guys. I'm a CHEVY guy, but bridged the gap and own a beautiful Mustang. If you want to talk against Chevy, please leave me alone. I'm not talking crap on Ford, just hate how nothing is going right with it, and I have the right to say that as I have owned a Chevelle, Camaro, and Now a Mustang. If you have owned both like I have and know some of you have, then speak freely. ALSO who doesn't want to put something bigger and better in their car? Just because I bought my own car and choose to do with it what I please, again with my own money, don't tell me I don't have the right or shouldn't have put a bigger engine in my car (because it doesn't go there) just like how many others have done before, and how many will do after me? The dang engine is going in the car, well is, and it's going to run the car. And Waffles, before you go bashing me about changing out this engine, one do one yourself, and two, maybe you should have done a little planning on your part, you know the whole getting engaged thing. So stop getting all worked up talking to me and acting like your talking to some 15 year old, I've been going to cruises since I was 16, I know what to expect.

And dave, it's the pulleys among other things, though I knew those weren't. I'm still waiting on those to come in the mail. But the water pump, alt bracket, oil pickup got messed up by Summit, the aftermarket oil pan was a slight pain, the engine mounts were a COMPLETE pain. I mean it's a pain in the butt to train and lead Marines, then get off work and deal with their problems then go to the shop to work on the car and deal with all it's issues. And I also appreciate you telling me about the special spacers, I knew about spacers but wasn't sure where to pick some up, I think I might just go with the 351 bracket though straight from Summit. We'll see. Next time I'm working on it is Thursday, so I have some time.

Well zgg all I can tell you is that there are over 9000 members of this forum. I am sure that several have been where you are at. I suspect if you ask a specific question others will answer it for you but I can answer one for you right now. Anyone ever told you that a POS 351W is better then a 351C is a damn liar. The most sought after motors of that era were the clevelands. Not saying anything about the windsors but anyone that ever told you anything bad about a cleveland either never owned one or was talking out their ***. I grew up during that period and even then when you told someone you had a cleveland under the hood that was making a statement.

I will also tell you that GM and chevy engines are by far more compatible to swap. Even the newer LT1 and LS1 and 2 are easy swaps. The truth is though that you have a ford product and you want to put a ford engine in your car so there is no reason to keep bringing up you are a chevy guy. I am a chevy guy also but I enjoy my fords. I also enjoy my dodges or whatever car I happen to be collecting at the time. BTW I had a roadrunner that would have eaten your camaro for breakfast. Hell my Mazda RX 7 ate your camaro for breakfast. But I also had a 2000 SS ram air camaro that was bad as hell. The point being that whatever car you drive does not make you a ford person. You are driving a classic mustang now, you chose to change the engine knowing full well that the change from a 302 to a 351C would have been much easier and much cheaper so you have to take the lumps coming from that decision. We are here to help but in all honesty I would have never ever gone the route you went with a 351W. Other members here have more experince then I do but thats my opinion. BTW in 89 that engine should have been a truck engine and a fuel injected truck engine. What did it come out of. If you got a FI 351W I think you are in for more of a dissapointment then you can imagine. Nothing will fit and you will never get the power you want out of that engine without major overhaul and your gas mileage will really be bad. Sorry. Oh and good luck back in Iraq. Do not have too much fun over there. World class gyms, the best food in the country and swimming pools in almost every base is getting more prevalent. Them damn cinabun places over there are addictive. Yep I spent 2 years over there as a civilian engineer 2004 to 2006.

LMAO.

Wait. You say, and I quote;

"I hate you guys"

But yet you sit here whining to us like a little kid because YOUR things didn't go as planned... sounds like YOU should have done some more planning, you know, in the ENGINE SWAP thing?

9 times out of 10 I would thank someone serving our country, even as a grunt. For you, I won't even bother. You're not worth it.

My car was a 302 originally. I put a 351w into it, and then pulled it back out to stroke it to 408. I had a67 IL6 that I dropped a mid 80's302 into. I had amid 70s wagon that I put a 460 in to for a demolition derby. So maybe once you're no longer a n00bie to these forums, you'll know a little bit more about the members of this forumbefore you open your mouth. You have one year on me, and I can tell you're still mentally stuck in High School. Hope your future fiance' knows what she's getting into.

Chevy guys are all the same. And since you opened the doors, I'll feel free to include you in the convo. You will throw as much money as you can to cover your tracks... you'll keep screwing around with something, and not know why it didn't just WORK. Whether it be on cars or anything else, you'll just keep throwing money at something because you didn't PLAN IT OUT.

Just sell your Ford. Someone else can buy it and actually enjoy these forums for the technical advice they're worth, rather than come and cry because they didn't know what they were doing and they're upset. Come and ask for advice, like the rest of the members. Ask for technical help. But don't waste our time with you bashing your car and crying like a little girl. It's a car. Grow up.

Rather than writing out another long post, bashing me and calling me gay, just stand up and go work on your engine. I want you to finish it up, becauseI'm tired of feeling bad for you.

Ed, I never said nobody has ever been where I'm at, or has ever been in a worse situation. My parts situation sucks, the place I have to work sucks and trying to find time to deal with everything that's causing a hang up and whatever else and work during alloted times of the day and pay over 20 dollars a day not including parts, and having the car there for three weeks now... Just sucks. I don't know about the Cleveland, everyone has their opinions, I heard that they were junk and hard to find parts for. But that's just what I heard, never dealt with them.

As far as the new LT and LS model engines, tucked inside a car, they are a pain to work on but yes, not bad to swap. As far as the whole eating cars, the reason I stated the Camaro walking Mustangs is because another member of the forum decided to call out Camaros in reference to Mustangs. NO joke there are cars out there that will beat a Camaro, hell even a bolt on Mustang could beat a Camaro, but dime for dime and bolt on to bolt on my Camaro would win against a Mustang, that was the statement I was making. Hell my buddies done up 70 Monte was capable of keeping up with me, so it's not like I was stating the Camaro was the oh holy car. And like I said, I was not aware that the 351C would be an easier swap, only heard that they weren't that good.

I realize that the engine was ORIGINALLY a truck engine. I bought it as a long block minus all the fuel injection. The engine was bored thirty over, I put a pretty nice cam in it, along with changing the old pedestal mount rockers to adjustable rollers. Then threw on an intake and carb. So I mean, it started as a truck engine, but now it's not. After next deployment, I would LIKE to put some twisted wedge heads on it and throw in a 5 spd, but we'll see. Hell this whole thread was started because I was frustrated at the car. The car is going to get completed sometime, it's going to get driven sometime, and hell I might even drive it off a cliff sometime.

And as far as Iraq... you must not have worked with any Marine Infantry guys. We do not have the "world class gyms, the best food, nor pools." The only time I saw ANY of that was in Kuwait for all of like a total of 4 days, two days transfer in, two days transfer out. I'm not a POG, or some airmen, sailor or soldier, I don't get those luxuries. Both times I have been already, I was lucky to shower once every couple weeks, hot food came out of some can and warmed if we were lucky on some base at the edge of town and brought to us.

IF you want to see EXACTLY what I did, check out the platoon video done fore us. Please tell me if that looks like Cinabon, or pools, or world class gyms. Please don't think that I'm being an a$$ but that stuff you mentioned is not a luxury all of us get. There are two still shots in here, one is of Swartz at 3:17 into the video. He was shot and killed by an enemy sniper while running to get into a house, it went through his shoulder and cut his trachea, be bled to death in the house. And at 4:02 Frazier, he was also KIA by an enemy sniper, he was shot in the face through a 7 inch hole on a rooftop. This video shows that not all of us have a cake and ice cream filled holiday in Iraq, though we all get paid the same.

Instead of bitching and complaining why don't you ask questions? You haven't even said what you're putting the 351 in other than a mustang. Or what year the engine is. Do you think they sent you the wrong parts because it's a ford and not a chevy? 302 to 351w swap is easy if you know what the differences are between carb and FI engines. It's been done thousands of times.

NO WAFFLES, I HATE YOU. You are a 21 yr old that thinks they know everything about everything. And GOOD don't thank me, because I don't need a little POS get everything from daddy boy like you thanking me for ****. I mean hell, there is ALWAYS next summer, because you don't do $hit with your life right? I only ask that I don't get placed in the same category as every other service member like it seemed Ed did, but we straightened that out, because we may all be in the service, but our jobs are not the same.

And comparing marriage to cars, well there smart one, just goes to show that you are as stupid as you sound too. A car can always be fixed, but me not believing in divorce, a marriage with a woman is not so easy to fix if something that could have been foreseen is not prior to marriage. It's not something that you "wake up one saturday and decide to buy a ring and propose." Keep helping the young marriage statistics genius. Looks like you "may" know more about cars then I do, but you still have alot to learn about life, much more then I do, and I still need to learn alot. And you called yourself gay, just for the record, because you placed yourself within that category, so don't go saying I did it, I just went along with it.

And not to mention this started off as a rant like everyone else does at some point in their life, you along with others chose to take it where it went. And another big thank you Waffles, I DID plan out the car. I've talked to some classic Ford owners, looked in a few Ford books, saw some things I was going to have to do, knew what I wanted to do with the car, bought most of the parts I needed from Summit when I was home, tore the old engine out, realized I needed more so I ordered more. Not because I ordered wrong and wanted to "throw more money" at it, or wanted something different, but because I DIDN"T HAVE IT and NEEDED it, and it's been an ongoing process. And I think it's funny how you claim all "Chevy guys" the same, your obviously, yet again, an idiot. And your the reason why Chevy guys hate ford guys, because people like you give them a bad name. This is my first Mustang, hell, my first Ford, first time I've ever even looked at one. So of course I'm going to run into unexpected hang ups, and nothing anywhere says a man is not allowed to get frustrated with his project. And the funniest thing is that I have met alot of Ford guys that have been awesome. Go buy a ricer, because you act like one of them. People are allowed to get frustrated with $hit. Sorry at 21 you've mastered life and are so perfect, I'll try to better reflect you in my daily life.
