Default Exterior Fender and Trunk Emblems

I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the 289 running horse emblems, the script mustang lettering and the mustang lettering on the trunk? is there a correct way to remove them or do i just pull em off?

thanks in advance

They are just held in via the posts on the back of each of them and little emblem sleeve nuts that fit in the body holes and hold in the posts, the sleeve nuts (not really nuts at all but that is what they call them) create the friction that holds the letter or 289 or script logo but they can be overcome with patience and steady effort. Basically you have to carefully pry them out and you will likely need to replace the little sleeves, but they are cheap and available at most of the mustang parts places online.

Take a 1" putty knife and cover the end of it with a piece of duct/masking tape. Hold the now protected from scratching the paint flat edge of the putty knife right up against one of the letters/emblems. Use a small screwdriver to gently and carefully pry the letters/emblems away from the tube nuts using the putty knife as the pry point. Once the emblem starts to seperate from the body panel, use the putty knife to finish the job by carefully prying the letter/emblem off.

The tube nuts are carried at my localAce Hardware store for about 4 cents apiece.

Work carefully,

Dave
