Default Sending Unit Question

I have finally put the new gas tank in the car. The problem is that my 68 has an optional convienence package for low fuel, seat belt, door ajar, and park brake. My wiring will not hook up to the new sending unit. My wire plug is a 2 prong push on type. The sending unit only has a threaded bolt coming out. I guess you cannot find the sending units with low fuel for a 68. So, has anyone else experienced this and what did you do? Any one have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. I guess sometimes it doesn't pay to have rare options......

What I would do is just buy a new sender and float and use you old hardware. Is something wrong with the actual unit? Usually its the float that goes bad.

The only problem is that I no longer have the old tank. The body shop that did my quarters and floor pans tossed it. Not sure what to do now. Do most sending units just have a single wire running from it? I cannot believe there is not a single adaptor or something that I could use.

Yes.

I know this doesn't do you any good, but for the benefit of others to come, this is a perfect example of why you NEVER throw anything out until th ecar is 100% finished.

Dave, I couldn't agree more after what I am going through. Luckily, I have kept everything else. Who would have know a gas tank was this important. Nabster, thanks. I will check this out and see if I can get it to work.

Maybe you should take your lectures elsewhere, to a convention of people that like lectures.

Man, like dave said, dont ever throw anything away.

All I can say is keep an eye out on ebay because everything will be single wire since its the most common option.

I would add a pigtail for the one wire unit with a clamp on type splice that can be removed later, that way at least you'll have a gauge til you find the correct sending unit.

Thanks guys. Tough lesson learned by a first time restorer. If any of you ever come across one of these sending units, please let me know....
