Never seen a tranny with the P switch. Only the shift pattern is reversed that I've ever seen.
If you aren't going to race, I would just get a transgo reprogramming kit. You can make it manual forward if you want, or leave it as an auto that you cn shift if you want to. Most I think wouldn't like a manual VB. You can have you cake and eat it too with this one. Plus the kit allows you to keep tour vacuum modulator which most manual VB don't let you do. Without the vac mod you rock around town with the tranny at full line pressure, and it will always shift hard, and wear everything out faster for nor reason really. When the vacuum drops and your foot is in it, then the line pressure raises and you get the hard shifts your looking for.

You know you have to get a shifter that is designed to work with a reverse valve body right? Park will be all the way back, and first will be all the way forward. Thats why its called a reverse valvebody, because the shift pattern is reversed. Have you looked into this valvebody from TCI:

I have this one, and it is manual and automatic, as well as a forward pattern. I shift it manually all the time (it is pretty cool), but If I left it in drive it would shift on its own.You can use a stock or any aftermarket shifter with this valvebody.
no the reverse only means it goes P-R-N-1-2-3 rather than P-R-N-3-2-1. the P R N are the same. think about it. if your banging from 1-2-3, and you have a standard patern, then you could accidently throw it too far and hit N or R. with the reverse, it allows you to "pull" into a higher gear. that way you dont have the risk of mis-shifting and going too far. and the shifters ive been looking at are all compatible with reverse patterns dont worry .

and if i wanted it to shift by itself, then id just leave it stock [&:]. theres no such thing as auto/manual valve body. you can manually shift it on any type.

Actually, you are not 100% correct here. Yes you can manually shift any auto, but after so much engine speed/line pressure is achieved, a factory valvebody will override itself and shift into the next gearanyway. TheTCI Valvebody won't do that. The TCI also has modified circuits that allow more clutch/band pressue which can help prolong transmission life. The TCI unit isn't "stock" although they do use a Ford casting to build them with.
