Disc Brakes
Hey guys,
So I while back I posted I had discovered I had disc brakes. I had always assumed I had drums all around, because my brakes have always been horrible. I had rebuilt my rear drums in the spring and am now trying to get the discs up to par. I took a look at them today, and they seem to have good pads. Do I need new rotors? BTW I had bled the whole system when I replaced my drums.
Thanks

The rotors seem to be in good shape. Could the caliper be shot? It really seems as if my rear drums are the only thing thats stopping me. I would think that even if the rotors were warped I'd still have decent braking.
You may need to adjust your proportioning. You may also need to bleed your front brakes. Need to know more about what car you have, what year and if the brakes are original. Someone may have installed disk brakes on a all drum car and not set the master cylinder up properly.
I bled the brakes when I replaced my rear drums. The car is a 6I, 68 couple, so the previous owner must have installed the 5 lug discs. What would the proper setup for the master cylinder be? How do i adjust the proportioning?
Thanks

check first to make sure you have a dual master cylinder. If you do you should have a proportionaing valve that feeds your rear brakes. If you turn it down it should apply more pressure to the front. I did that with mine until the fronts would lock up before the rear.
