My headlights/dash lights blink...
Hi all,
I took my car out to the store at night and notice the headlights and dash lights are now "pulsing". They pulse at a steady rate; sitting or moving, they stay at the same rate.
It wasn't doing that the first few times I drove it at night, but now it's all the time.
I'm not sure if the dash wiring has ever been replaced after 40 years, but could the alternator or solenoid be causing "interference" to make it pulse? Any thoughts?
Thanks

I went to my local auto parts store and got a Electronic Voltage Regulator (the one under the hood not behind the dash). For about $15 it solved my pulsing problem.
Since it's electronic there are no moving parts like the old one. I like the look of the shiny cover but I am told with a little work you can put a OEM looking cover on the electronic unit.

I had a problem with mine a while back where it started with the dash lights going out sort of going on and off then later the headlights started doing the same thing.
Mine were not "pulsing" at a steady rate or anything however.
The fix for mine was to replace the light switch.
