72 mustang AOD conversion Question
I have been busy with projects for my 72 Mach I 351c FMX:
The next two projects I would like to tackle are swapping in an AOD so who has done this and with what vendor and which 'kit' was the best and I suppose the most cost effective? I have researched a couple of sites and want to know what others have experienced. I am not too interested in getting a tranny from a junkyard and piecing together the parts. I kind of did that with the front power brake conversion which was ok but I dont want to do that with the tranny. The motor in the long run will be around 400 horse.
I just finished putting in a 3.7 posi unit and an AOD would be the next step.
Also who has added discs to the rear and how did you go about doing it?
Thanks,

Just talked about several of these items elsewhere. The AOD is a good mod but its much cheaper just to rebuild the FMX for power and get a 3.00-3.25 rearend. The same thing for the brakes. The drum brakes on the rear are perfect for your car and if you have disc on the front you are set. Mostly my opinion but the same thing I have already been told.
???? It's simple to do. What problem are you having? At idle with the pressure gage in and the adjustment tool on the cable put the car in neutral and set the pressure to 32psi. Put in park and take the tool out, the pressure should be below 3psi. Plus or minus one is not going to hurt anything..
