Default Dang Odd Grande Couipe

This weekend I drove to Lubbock TX to pick up a donor car for my crumpled rear quarter. When I got there I found a 72 Grande Coupe in Med Blue. It was in really bad condition and would never be anything I would want to make a project out of but this one was odd. I opened the door and pulled the numbers off of the door and the VIN number. This car came with a 351C 4V motor with a C4 transmission and a 3.5 posi rearend. It also came with the tach guage and the triple gauge. It also had a factory NACA hood. I know I am not an expert but I have never seen a GC with all of those features. In my opinion this fellah should have used this car as a project and tossed his run of the mill fastback. What say you experts. Was this a unique car?

I sold my '71 coupe with a 351C 4V and a C6 auto to work on my '73 sportroof 351C 2V.

I prefer the sportroof.

Sounds like you found a great donor for your car though.

By the way, I thought all Grandes had deluxe interior and gauges.

Doesn't yours have it?

A vin # for a Grande would be 2F04Hxxxxx. 04 means Grande.

Might need to check you #s.

The grandes have the deluxe interior, but the gauges were standard with that package. Now, that being said, Im sure you probably couldve ordered the deluxe gauges a well, but I wouldn't have thought that Ford would put a C4 behind a 4V cleveland. Must have really been an odd-ball car.

Sorry, I was tired so my post was nuts. It was a grande with a vinyl roof and all. Yes they do have deluxe interiors but they did not come with a naca hood, a tach and gauges from the factory and a CJ motor with a low rear end. BTW it was a C6 not a C4. I checked the specs and only 90 coupes in all had CJ motors from 71-73. None had a factory naca hood and I would have to dig seriously to find one that had the tach and gauges. I doubt there was ever mor then 10 made like this.

Well, things used to be different... (Or so I hear, I was nothing more than a twinkle in my father's eye...)

But from what I gather, any car, with any feature was possible if you had the money and knew someone that could make it happen.
