That's one of those things you don't consider doing. Even if its done right, properly and clean it is going to cost you far more than just buying one in the first place. But odds are something is not going to work out or line up right and a good car was just ruined. You would need someone with tons of experience to even try it. Its just like trying to make a fastback out of a coupe, just not worth it.

+1

The frame and body have so much reinforced steel in a convert, a proper transformation would cost thousands just for that element alone. Any conversion without the proper reinforcement, roof and body modifications, weatherproofing, or finished windscreen will forever be ruined.

Maybe one day, someone will take a convert and turn it into a coupe, lol.

The coupe to fastback conversion is actually a much better bet to pull off with any success.

WePowder - coupe to convertible is something that a high-end shop such as Bob Julian's place would be able to do (google "SN65" or look through Hot Rod magazine back issues). Bring $$$. Lots of it. This is not something to trust to your local body shop, let alone tackle yourself if you're asking if it's even been done.

Its easy sell your coupe and buy a convertible its the cheapest way.The sn65 they shoe horned a 65 body over a 03 cobra unibody thats not so hard to do.To change a coupe in to a fastback or convertible is a huge pricey job its cheaper to buy another car.And the vin will show its really a coupe so you can't sell it for the convertible price.

I'd stick with a coupe anyway, I hate convertibles (no offense to any vert owners). I just dont like the body lines, the roof just doesn't look smooth with the retractable bracing showing through the canvas. Vert's are for cruising, Steve McQueen didn't drive no vert! Than again that's just my preference

Here's a link to the people who do the conversion. Hope this helps, and keep in touch, I'm considering the same thing as my next project is already sans the roof.

Well everyone told me that i could not turn my 1971 mustang coupe into a fastback mach1 but i tried it anyways and it is comming along well, just because people tell you that you cant do something dosent mean it cant be done. im only 20 and i did all the body work involved with it, and i just got done with the body work, it took me a little over a year but it looks great. plus most mustangs ull c if you do some measuring most mustangs are almost identical. just take your time.
