Default Compressor Rebuild

Has anyone rebuilt a compressor? I have a 73 that used to blow cold air. I know there is a leak and I have recharged it a few times. I would like to rebuild the old compressor and convert it to 134. I have converted many other compressors. I would like to keep the look of the old compressor even though the air will not be as cold if I put on a new compressor.

Thanks,
John

Are you sure the leak is from the compressor and not at a joint in the pipes? Anyway, here are a couple of tech articles you might find useful. I'm wondering how you are going to get the old R-15 out. You can't just let it fly. There is a tough law against this, thanks to the EPA. That will have to be done at an airconditioning place where they take it out and store it in tanks.

I understand the laws. I also doubt there is any left in it. If you are servicing R12 you have to use a recovery system.

Thanks for the links. I will check them out.
