it somewhat depends on how much you are going to use it.

a larger nozzle is good for primer but a smaller nozzle is best for base & clears.

Ive painted with a cheapy $150 craftsman and a $450 SATA. The SATA by far out performs the craftsman as is expected with a $300 price difference but in the end you couldnt tell 1 paint job from the other. It was just easier to use, set up, clean etc. not really sure how to explain it haha.

yea, my comment as far as it depends on how much youll use it is to justify the price.

The craftsman one laid the paint pretty nice and is a good all around gun (primer/base/clear) the SATA was easier to fine tune.

I still use both, ive just gotten used to if its a pedal car or normal car part i use the SATA for the base/clear where ill use the craftsman if its a quick job on a trailer or something.

this will (hopefully) be my one and only paint job so i don't need to worry about it standing up to the rigors of a paintshop... i saw a devibliss starting line kit with 2 guns for about $100 bucks. is that too cheap to get one car done?
here is the link to the kit

How about heading dow to the local tool rental shop and just renting it. Probably cheeper if you are only using it once.

Check out ebay
