Question Would this work?

Okay, here's the deal. 1970 Mustang 302, used to have Power Steering but all that's left is the 16:1 box, so the thing's a beast to park.

I can buy a brand new automatic rack and pinion from a 1988 Mustang, including tie rods, pump, and hydraulic hoses, for $300.

Can this setup work with my classic as is, and is this a good deal? Do I need any extra parts, and will I need to modify any existing parts of the car to make this work?

Thanks!

Unhappy Desperate for an answer

Please, steering pros, ... help? I have to decide about the Gen II r&p muy pronto, and to quote a Pacino performance, "I'm in the dark here!"

I am sure you could do it but you would have to fabricate brackets and maybe cut a bit to fit it in ther with enough money anything is possible.

Possible...yes...but if you have to ask if it will work, you probably don't have the mechanical expertise to do it by yourself.
This is not something to be started by anything but a real pro, with a lot of time, and money to throw at it.
