Default painting the nooks and crannies.....

I'm about ready to start painting the door jambs, behind the fenders, and all the other parts you don't really see. I was thinking about using a single stage for that stuff, then doing a base/clear for the body itself (getting it painted by someone else). any suggestions on what kind of primer (2k, urethane, epoxy........) will be best in that situation (going over seam sealer, undercoat, whatever was painted over at the factory)

thanks!

Epoxy for sure if you can afford it!

Whatever you use, remember to clean and scuff the old finish as well as you can. No matter what the quality of the primer/paint, poor prep will result in lifting.

I user to use a product called "Jamb it" for softening the areas that were hard or impossible to sand, but this is not made anymore.

They have some stuff they call "mid coat adhesion promoter" or something like that anyway, that is supposed to help in areas like this.

A green scrub pad you use for pots and pans will work in tight places too.

Are you sure you want to try and do this? If your having a shop paint your car, it wouldn't cost much more to have them do the "jambing" part of the paint job. At least it will all be consistent. It doesn't really save much by you only doing that little part. that's just my ho, humble opinion.

it's gotta cost quite a bit more than just shooting the car, no?? i mean the proper prepping for that + what labor costs??!!
