actually there is no such thing as 400m!! most people incorrectly name it as such since visually it looks the same as a 351m..it is just a 400 correctly named

Do you want to differentiate an FE from a big block? They are different. The smallest/first FE was the 352 [as stamped on all FEs on the front driver side]

I find the 332 referenced in at least three places as an FE (and differing from the 352 primarily by the 0.200" stroke difference). And I missed a few related truck engines.

The FE engine story isn't as complex as you might imagine. There were only nine displacements--332, 352, 360, 361, 390, 406, 410, 427, and 428 cubic inches. There was also a family of medium- and heavy-duty truck engines based on the FE series of engines called "FT," which stands for (you guessed it) Ford Truck. The FT engine family included the 330ci HD and MD, 359, 361, 389, and 391ci. There is some interchangeability between the FE and FT, but one has to be careful in a quest for parts because the FT looks virtually identical to the FE externally. Though a lot of internal parts look the same, there are important differences we will get into later.
FWIW, in other Ford engine families, post-flathead

385 engines
370
429
460
514 (SVO only)

MEL engines
383
410 (4.2" bore, not the FE 410 with 4.05" bore)
430
462

Y-block
239
256
272
292
312

Here's a link to a better list. You just have to keep the "engine family" in mind rather than "SB/BB".

I've always wondered, what exactly does FE stand for, and what is the difference between an FE and a BB

I do realize that Fe is the symbol for Iron, so does it just mean the FE blocks are iron? but aren't the BB's iron as well?

all so confusing
