Question Removing 68 Heater

Gonna remove heater cover, core, fan, etc., for repair. Will be driving a few days until heater is back in. Should I connect the heater hoses so they just recirculate, or should I remove the hoses and plug the outlets? Or does it matter? Also one heater hose has one of those plastic connections with a screw top for draining and flushing the radiator. Haven't seen one of them in a long time. They still being made? Wonder how old that thing is?

the splicing pieces for flushing rads are still made yes.

bought one for my car not long after i got it.

and you can do eitherway, connect the two nipples so the water circulates, or you can plug them for a cleaner look. it still circulates through the block and up through the heads and manifold.

on our dyno, we just plug them. you can see on my engine i have them plugged.

just a warning if you havnt messed with heaters before, be care full taking the clips off of the box, i screwed up and a couple of the clips broke the lip off of the box, and well now i get to spend money, getting a new box........

p.s anyone know why new boxes are so damn expensive?

depinding on what shape the box is in, you might need a new one. my fiberglass was all chipped up and chunks missing, i need a new one.

but for my dads, he removed his and accidently broke a corner off. but he took some epoxy and glued it all back together and its good to go.

You can use the connection on the flush fitting. Pull the hose off the back fitting that goes to the heater core and attach the other hose that went to the other nipple on the core to the now open fitting.
