Default positive feedback

I sold my 65 fastback today to a guy that builds a few himself now and then.
He was talking about my 66 coupe and looking over everything then told me about his 67
he had built and sold with a 351 that had a kenny brown huffer on top.

After helping him load up and talking for a hour he wanted to check the 66 out a bit more so we cranked it up and took it for a spin.

I was interested in his view seen he has built and had some nice cars with blowers and NOS. This is my 1st attempt with a boosted engine the only thing I have ever built have been N/A motors.

After a quick blast down the street he told me that my lil 347 would have eaten his 351 67 alive. And he thinks it would take his brother 572 powerd 69 camaro.
Then after discussing the mods and drivetrain for a while he is talking me into taking it to the drag strip with him in a few weeks.

Keeping in mind I didnt buildt this car for the strip it has a 325 trac loc and a tko 500.
Claims with his slicks and some weight he can see 10s or better with a guy that is a good driver.
I just laughed and said it wasnt built for that.

The catch is he is telling me all this new stuff I would have to do and add just for it to be allowed to run. Dont know that its wort it.I built this thing for curves and open road race runs.

Just was good to get back some informed opinions.

Roll cage is required here if you run better than an 8 in the 1/8th (I think). You also have to have a helmet. I am thinking about a roll cage now. Guy had a major wreck in his supra about week and a half ago. He wasn't intoxicated, just hit a culvert. Passenger has a compressed disc or something like that and driver had cuts all over. Flipped or cartwheeled several times.

If you want to run it on open track and road courses, even with a high end suspension you might still consider the rollcage. If you're wanting it just to handle well from time to time I don't think it's really needed.

Having said that if you get serious about what he said you definitely need to add one.

BAMustang,

Shame what happened to that Supra. Glad they lived through it.

Man that Supra looks like a nasty crash!
I have the rear section just not the froward tubes going across the top or down next to the doors. Looking at that crash may be time to look into adding them on. YIKES!!

Yeah this made me start thinking about it. Some I have seen also make me want to put seats with headrests and 4 point seatbelts.

I started thinking, I think the raceway here only requires a helmet. I'm not 100% sure he had a cage. Still makes me want a cage just looking at the pic.
