Default Dyno ?'s

Just curious as to if any of you had dyno tuned your cars? And if so what was the starting numbers and how much did you gain from the tune?

Also, be nice to see if you had your cars dyno'd before and after a product install and see what sort of numbers you gained.

i got myself one of those G-tech pros in-car dynos.
I have not the foggiest idea on how accurate it is, but one thing is for sure you should be able to measure improvement ;-)
in my current configuration it shows 85RWHP which kinda makes me cry. I know that i loose a lot through aero drag and drivetrain. but even if that's 25% we';re talking 105HP flywheel. i have no idea how accurate all this is but it seems to be a constant measurement
I'll post my results after adding my intake and carb. the HP values probvably mean crap, but at least I can say there was a 10% increase or something similar to this ;-)

i just dynoed my engine at my work on our engine dyno.

first pull, after letting it warm up with no adjustments was 308hp.

then gradually made timing adjustments, played with the fuel, and finally added a carb spacer.

i made about 8 pulls, and i will get my print outs today when i go to work. but i ended with 340.5 hp at the crank.

Very nice. I've seen people get up to 50 more HP with a carb'd engine. I think once she's running right I'm going to go ahead and spend the 150 for a dyno tune.

I'd like to have my engine dyno'd with all the mods in it just to know what I'm pushing. I am still waiting to get it out of the shop though. As always having it where I can drive it is more important to me than the numbers I'm pushing.

Still curious to know.

Yeah, I had a 74 302 in it before and I just wasn't happy with 150hp and 213tq. So I went with a mild build 358W and I'm very curious to know what it's pushing now. Hoping for 300 to the wheels but it will probably be a little under. But I'm curious to know if the money is well spent getting it dyno tuned. I'm thinking even if you get 20hp for $150 it isn't bad at all.

no thats not bad at all!

im thinking about spending the ~$150 on a cnc aluminum carb spacer to get me the extra 6 hp that got me to 340.

Yeah... I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure my club sponsor, National Speed down in Wilmington is $150 for an hour or hour and a half for the dyno tune.
