Electrical Problems
Gentlemen: I will use this term loosely.
I am now full circle. I had a battery go bad, it had a bad cell in it, so I replaced it. Then it would not charge so I replaced the alternator, first alternator was a dud from Autozone - I installed it, and battery was still not charging so I pulled it and took it back. It tested bad. Installed another alternator - still would not charge - I checked this one before I left the store. Still no charge, I rewired the voltage regulator, and put a new voltage regulator. Ah finally the battery was charging. After the car sitting 5 days the battery was dead this morning....[:@]

Sounds like you may have something drawing current from the battery even when the car is off, do you have any mods on the car like a stereo or driving lights, I have seen those draw a battery dead in no time. I would check the voltage on the battery when it is fresh then wait a while then check again to see if the voltage has dropped that would tell you if you have something drawing the battery down. If you do, then it is just a matter of finding out what's causing it. Good old troulbeshooting.
Better yet, if you can get your hands on one of those multi-meters that clamps around the wire and measures current through the wire. This will tell you for sure if and how much current is being drawn from the battery when the call is off.
I purchased one of these meters when I had an overcharging problem. Acid would spew from the battery after running the care for a short time. Acid makes a nasty rust mess of the engine compartment!

You might have a light on. Glove box, trunk, under dash, radio, etc. When it's running, are you getting 14 across the batter terminals? If so, then you finally found that bad Voltage Regulator, so it has to be something drawing current as mentioned. Is your ignition completely off when you shut it down. Also as mentioned, get a meter and do some poking around under the dash to see if current is running to anything. Rear lights on? Dome light on? Fog lights on? etc. etc.
I am thinking it is battery problems.
I cahrged the battery to 12.31 volts. Started the car had 14.5volts accross the battery. I shut the car off and watched the battery gradually discharge. I thought maybe something was draining it, so I started disconnecting stuff, with the battery diconnected it was still discharging.
So I left the battery disconnected. When I get home if it is discharged, then I will know the battery is bad. Probably a result of troubleshooting.
